June :Ume Plum workshop

Ume Plum jam and Plum syrup making.
Date :  27 June (Sunday)
Time : 14:30am  (approx. 2.5 hours)
June is Ume plum picking season and every family used to make their plum food/drinks at home. Ume Plum is very effective to prevent exhaustion from the summer heat., why not trying making your own?
Will order good quality of Ume from ume farmer at Kishu, Wakayama.
Making process itself is simple,  lets enjoy seasonal plum work (Ume shigoto) together.
( What to make)
Ume syrup
 : 500g of plum in ziplock. Bring home and mix everyday.
 It will be ready to drink  in approx. 10 days.
Ume plum jam
 : Will make together and do tasting. Bring home 250ml jar .
Note :
Container will be provided (No need to bring)
Will use plums just harvested, but will possibly freeze at my end for easy/ fast process.

Cherry blossom season is coming soon, in Japan , we enjoy ‘Sakura(= cherry blossom) mochi’ while enjoying the sakura view.

It is a distinctive flavor of  salted Sakura leaves. Anko (Red beans paste) is wrapped with sticky rice mochi (Doumyouji ) and sakura leaves.

Homemade Miso workshop

Do you like Miso soup ? If you live in Japan, why not making your own miso, fermenting at home.  Homemade miso is very special.

Date:

28 February (Sun) 10.30am,  English class.

If the above schedule does not meet, please consult me. There are some other Japanese classes which you can join. (26-28 Feb)

In a class:

We make miso together. Bring home your miso (1 kg) and let it ferment another 8 months. Your miso will be ready in autumn. No miso tasting time this year… sorry.

Price : 5,500 yen per person

Number: 2- 4 people

Duration : 2 hours

Seasonal Lesson

– Joyo Manjyu

Traditional Mnajyu bun made from sticky yam, sugar, rice powder and red beans.

In terms of difficulty, yes, it is not for beginners, but we can try !

 

 

– O Higashi

Traditional sweets often used in Tea ceremony. Higashi means Dried sweets but it is actually quite tasty just after you make.  Plum flower celebrating new year.
